TSfP has been the co-organiser of the 15th and 16th IMSPQ and the corresponding refresher courses held at the University of Malaysia.
The Inter-Medical School Physiology Quiz (IMSPQ) was initiated by the Department of Physiology, University of Malaya in 2003 in memory of the late Professor A. Raman who was the first Malaysian Professor of Physiology and Head of Department of Physiology of the oldest university in Malaysia. The objectives of IMSPQ are to highlight the importance of Physiology in Medicine and to foster collaboration between academicians from different universities.
The 1st inaugural IMSPQ in 2003 began with just 7 National Medical Schools competing for the Prof A. Raman Challenge Trophy. The IMSPQ has since generated immense interest in the Asian region and beyond. Each year, this Physiology event brings together medical students and their accompanying lecturers from over 100 Medical schools. Beyond the exciting and intellectually stimulating competition, the Physiology Quiz event has served as an invaluable gathering for academic friendship and exchange of ideas among the students and staff.
The IMSPQ has also initiated a Physiology Refresher course at the 12th IMSPQ since 2014 to provide teaching updates to the lecturers at the IMSPQ event. These talks have been delivered by internationally-renowned physiology educators.
